At the time, the site was still a construction site. The track infrastructure was essentially complete, enabling the first train to operate. The AK cars record track and overhead wire geometry, and were used as part of the commissioning process. 2 more subsequent runs of the AK cars occurred in 2008. Regular CityRail passenger services commenced on 23 February 2009. Saturday 8 March 2008: A little bit of history quietly occurred on 8 March 2008.
